Technology Strategy & Advisory – Director, UK&I
Location: London, Manchester, or Dublin | Hybrid
Slalom is a global, human-centric business and technology consulting firm. We specialise in partnering with organisations that aspire to excellence, helping them tackle complex challenges and achieve transformative results through strategy, technology, and business transformation services. By prioritising people, Slalom creates a unique consulting experience, with a team of strategists and engineers delivering practical, end-to-end solutions that drive impactful outcomes for our clients. We empower people and organisations to dream bigger, move faster, and build better tomorrows for all.
About our role: We're looking for a Director to join the UK&I Technology Strategy & Advisory (TS&A) team. Someone equally comfortable in boardroom conversations as working through the people, process and technology challenges of complex transformation programmes with clients.
This is primarily an advisory role. You'll build and maintain technology account leadership with our most important clients, holding C-suite relationships, shaping their thinking on what comes next and leading engagements that define strategy, build the commercial case and connect the right capabilities across Slalom to deliver.
The market is shifting. CIOs are dealing with legacy estates that block AI adoption, boards demanding investment cases before releasing budget, and regulatory environments that complicate technology change. You'll be expected to stay ahead of these challenges, establish active C-suite relationships at key strategic accounts, contribute meaningfully to TS&A pipeline with larger, broader opportunities, build visible thought leadership in market and develop a team around you that's more confident in senior advisory conversations and clearer about what great technology strategy work looks like.
Life as a Technology Strategy & Advisory Director
As a Technology Strategy & Advisory Director, you'll be billable to clients, leading engagements whilst building the practice and account relationships around them. You're joining a practice that's deliberately building something new; working across technology, people and change with clients who are navigating what comes next. Specifically, you will:
Responsibilities:
Client Advisory & Technology Account Leadership
- Build and maintain trusted adviser relationships at CIO, CTO, CDO, Heads of Engineering/Architecture level, staying present between engagements to shape the client's technology agenda over time.
- Own technology account leadership across key strategic accounts, understanding the client's full technology estate and transformation ambitions whilst leading technology strategy engagements across application portfolio rationalisation, AI operating model design, investment case development and programme assurance.
- Connect people, process and technology considerations into coherent advice, bringing change management, operating model and organisational thinking into the work naturally and translating technology strategy conversations into credible programmes that draw on Slalom’s Business Strategy, Data & AI, Cloud & Software Engineering, Organisational Transformation & Change, CX and Enterprise capabilities.
Business Development & Go to Market
- Drive pipeline growth through deep account relationships, thought leadership and proactive opportunity identification, contributing to the TS&A go-to-market motion through CxO roundtables, industry forums and hyperscaler co-sell with AWS and Microsoft.
- Partner with Client Partners and Capability leads to develop and close strategic opportunities, acting as solution lead or subject matter expert in key pursuits.
Delivery & Commercial
- Lead technology strategy engagements end-to-end from problem definition to board-ready outputs, act as Accountable Executive on key accounts managing engagement risk and client relationships, and ensure commercial rigour across SOW structuring, margin and engagement economics.
People & Practice
- Coach and develop TS&A practitioners at all levels, contribute to the practice's IP and capability development, and model the culture we are building: open, inclusive, direct and genuinely people-first.
What You’ll Bring
- Consulting or technology advisory background working across business strategy, technology change and organisational transformation, not purely architecture, delivery or engineering
- Experience building and holding senior client relationships at CIO, CTO or equivalent level, shaping the technology agenda rather than responding to it
- Broad understanding of the technology change landscape including legacy modernisation, cloud adoption, AI and data strategy, technology operating models, and the people and process dimensions that determine success
- Proven ability to connect technology strategy conversations to credible commercial opportunities and navigate a complex, multi-capability organisation to deliver against them
- Strong commercial instinct: you know how to structure a SOW, manage margin and profitability, and ensure what we deliver creates value for the client and works for Slalom
- Genuine thought leadership credentials or clear ambition to build them, with a point of view on where technology is heading and the confidence to share it
We have a question for you - and it’s something we’re passionate about. Can you imagine a world in which you can truly love your life and your work? Well, we have some good news – creating that world and making this vision a reality is what we get out of bed for; it’s our north star.
But what do we really mean when we talk about loving your life and your work? Let’s look at the ways in which we help our team members to achieve this – and the ‘how’.
Deep connections, better outcome

Flexibility
Life is busy, and we understand that. Our team often juggles work, family, personal commitments, and crucial client obligations. We prioritise supporting our people in balancing what matters to them while ensuring we meet our client commitments.
Flexibility is key, as we sometimes need to adapt to meet client needs. This way, our team can work on high-impact projects they’ll love, knowing they have the flexibility to manage their personal and professional lives effectively.
People-first
Great solutions start with great people. At our employee-led company, your voice matters, and we love to hear your feedback. By leading with kindness, empathy, and striving for equity, we create better experiences for everyone. Our culture encourages passion, adventure, adaptability, and diverse thinking. Inclusion, diversity, and equity are our top priorities, empowering our team to be their best selves. Together, we can create a great future by working collaboratively and supporting each other.
Rewards
There’s no shying away from it - the compensation and benefits on offer have to be competitive too, right? We know that. That’s why we have a dedicated team working with our leaders to ensure our packages are fair, competitive, and rewarding!
