Who You’ll Work With
Slalom Portland is seeking a Client Partner to join the team to expand the Slalom Public & Social Impact brand across Oregon’s Federal, State, and Local governments, Non-Profits, and Higher Education. You will work closely with capability leaders and other markets to establish Slalom as the “go-to” consulting partner for transformational projects across our range of consulting capabilities – both technical and non technical. The Client Partner will engage with colleagues throughout Slalom to introduce thought leadership, create winning proposals, and deliver superlative work, thereby growing Slalom’s consulting footprint with existing customers and opening doors to new ones. This leader will also deliver solutions that enhance our transformation story and build on our strong foundation with our current strategic & emerging partners. We are open to hiring at either Principal or Senior Principal, based on candidate experience.
What You’ll Do
This Client Partner will primarily focus on our State Government client portfolio and own business development related to this vertical, while also supporting other areas of interest (e.g., Local Government, Non-Profits, Higher Ed.).
· Understands our Public and Social Impact clients’ business needs and challenges and has an informed point of view.
· Deep background and experience with Public and Social Impact institutions, their missions, and the work typical to these organizations
· Detailed knowledge of important areas of the Public and Social Impact Sector (e.g., State Government priorities, challenges, budget processes, etc.)
· Understanding of and ability to work with budget cycles and current budget challenges.
· Understanding of the State of Oregon’s procurement law and associated processes, procedures, and restrictions.
· Ability to read and properly interpret a client’s RFP, RFQ/RFO, and RFI, assess whether Slalom is a good fit and recommend/decide if Slalom should respond.
· Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships at the Director, Deputy Director, and C-Suite level within Client Organizations. Has managed escalations and works proactively at the C-Suite level to prevent surprises and mitigate risk when issues arise.
· Collaborates with Slalom Sales Executives to create account plans for targeted organizations within the State of Oregon
· Identifies opportunities to engage SMEs to assist with or augment project delivery. Helps drive thought leadership around improving Slalom’s transformational customer love scores.
· Drives proposals and partners with Pursuit Teams to develop and execute on sales strategies. Has led the negotiation and closing of opportunities.
· Experienced with common approaches to working with procurement organizations and the inherent differences in procurement across client sizes and industries.
· Aligns global account and local market strategies in close collaboration with local market and capability leaders.
· Works collaboratively with Slalom practices to define service offerings that meet Public and Social Impact Sector needs, brings those offerings to-market, and delivers capabilities through project work.
· Promotes Slalom in the market by attending / speaking at industry events, panels, etc.
What You’ll Bring
· Minimum 10 years of relevant experience working with or for the public sector either in-house or in the consulting industry
· Experience managing transformational programs that incorporate people, processes, and technology.
· Relevant experience managing utilization targets.
· Deep experience with oversight, governance, and quality assurance of all sold/managed engagements.
· Client management/leadership experience, ideally within a formal management consulting environment.
· The ability to effectively balance business development, contracting/negotiating, solutioning, client engagement, delivery excellence enablement, operations/financial management and team/people management all in a single role.
· Advanced project delivery, including all aspects of project/program management.
· Previous P&L ownership and responsibilities.

Compensation and Benefits

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this role, we are hiring at the following levels and targeted base pay salary ranges: $165,000 to $201,000. In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
